Using FFX 3.5b4 on Ubuntu 9.04, LCD monitor.
Text all over the page is fuzzy looking in general. Some characters have easily perceptible blue halos.
It seems that 3.5b4 uses different algorithms for sub-pixel rendering than earlier versions, and these algorithms do poorly on my configuration.
Have tested on a Thinkpad X61 tablet (using the built-in LCD), and a Thinkcentre desktop, using a Dell 2407WFP.
Happens on every page, and in chrome. (E.g. menu items, tab titles, etc.)
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open Firefox
2. Look at text
3. Notice fuzziness and blue halos.

apparently, the problem occurs because firefox no longer user gnome's font settings. following the instructions at the page below (to configure fontconfig the same as my current gnome font settings) resolves the problem.

yes, Ubuntu's fontconfig needs to be fixed (details in bug 458612). Thanks for your report.
