User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.9.0.10) Gecko/2009042316 Firefox/3.0.10 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.9.0.10) Gecko/2009042316 Firefox/3.0.10 Open a TextFile (10MB or larger) with a lot of semicolons (;) in the Fx directly causes a DoS. Only closing the tab or stop button makes the Fx usable again. The txt file can be local or from the net. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. open (or create, if you don't have one) a *.txt File (10MB) with a lot of semicolons 2. open this textfile with the Firefox directly Actual Results: Browser Hangs, 100% CPU usage Expected Results: open the txt file completely this bug was tested on other machines and in a clean environment
the bug is not related to the Fx 2.x
This bug report needs a good test case. Can you provide a link to such a text file on a (public) webserver somewhere?
here you have a sample file: http://admin4me.de/semi.txt (attention: open this file only in a test environment)
Confirmed on Mac OS X 10.5.6 (nl_NL) / Firefox 3.5b4 (nl_NL). I'll attach some technical information on the not-responding Firefox process. I took this about 10 minutes after entering the specified URL. Note that Firefox had no network activity by that time anymore, I checked in the Activity Monitor application.

(In reply to comment #3) > here you have a sample file: > http://admin4me.de/semi.txt > (attention: open this file only in a test environment) Is this file still available somewhere? Without the file, I cannot attempt to reproduce the issue on Firefox 3.6 or 4.0.
No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.12 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
