To be called cruncher.build.mozilla.org

This will be used to generate profiles for talos testing, crunch graph server numbers searching for regressions and hosting dashboard applications.

I'd prefer if we could work from a basic ubuntu image, but I'm not sure what base images we have in our VM arsenal. What do I have to choose from here?

All of our masters, as well as build.m.o, are running on centos5 (based on our refimage I believe). I'd be more in favour of keeping them all the same o.s., so we have less worries when we migrate processes from one to another.

Apart from personal preferences, would the benefits of using ubuntu for this server outweigh any complications caused by introducing a different distro in our mix of servers?
btw, the build CentOS image is 5.0 - current is 5.3 and 5.0 is -ancient- with old tools.

Production hosts are based on RHEL5.3 and get routinely updated. Unless you need this to do build-like tasks, I'd suggested the normal RHEL5.
This is not for build like tasks, so I'd be willing to go with something a little more up to date.

My preference with ubuntu stems from all the talos linux boxes using it, so I'm more comfortable in that environment.
Are you thinking more like Ubuntu 8.04 LTS (Long Term Support) or Ubuntu 9.04 (which is the current latest release)?
Whatever IT happens to have around and supports. I don't want some custom image generated just for this.
RHEL5 it is, phong can help. ETA's a week out, pending additional storage. If you need it quicker we'll set it up on qm-vmare02 and migrate it later. You're call.

RHEL5 is fine.

We're okay to wait until the additional storage is readily available.

Now that we've got more storage, what's the ETA on this VM?
