Crash Data

looking at a one week sample of crashes for 3.0.9 I'm seeing over 1200 crashes at:

1209 coFFPlgn.dll@0x2e2f1

about 1/3 of these have the url:about blank possible indicating some relation to open new tab, but a variety of other urls are also listed. comments also indicate many users encountering crashes with this signature at shutdown.

if you add in all the other possibly related crashes in this .dll at other address it would point to a general instability problem.

there is also a long running thread on the norton support forum
http://community.norton.com/norton/board/message?board.id=nis_feedback&thread.id=41555&view=by_date_ascending&page=1

here are the other possibly related signatures and counts of 3.0.9 crashes in the last week

One user experience this problem too. I told him to check several components and run tests with disabling them. He has version 16.5.0.135 installed. He will report back shortly.

Summary: Firefox crash [@ coFFPlgn.dll@0x2e2f1 and general instability in coFFPlgn.dll → Norton Confidential Firefox crash [@ coFFPlgn.dll@0x2e2f1] and general instability in coFFPlgn.dll
I have found that the Norton Safety Minder Firefox extension (part of Norton Online Family) causes a crash when opening a tab in a new window (at least when the tab is dragged off of the tab bar). Disabling the add-on stops the browser from crashing. I am running Windows 7 Starter, Firefox 3.6.8 and the crash signature is coFFFw.dll@0x31171
clegnitto, have you been in contact lately. we should get norton folks looking at this. annoyingring, thanks for isolating steps to reproduce.
Crash Signature: [@ coFFPlgn.dll@0x2e2f1]
Looks like we cannot find this signature anymore. Likely the 3rd party issue got fixed or there is some other new signature. Crashes don't seem to appear with this dll anymore so resolving as works for me.
