News readers are web services allowing users to subscribe to RSS/ATOM feeds online and view them. If Firefox detects a feed, it offers the user to subscribe to it, either as a live bookmark or via one of the web services. The current News Readers in en-US are Bloglines, My Yahoo, Google. We want to ship a good set of defaults for Tamil (Sri Lanka), and will work towards that in three stages. First, the localization team and Stas (Stas Malolepszy) will look at the market for the language and come up with a good candidates. Sarves, we'll need your input on this, the guidelines for making recommendations are on http://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox_web_services_guidelines. After we decided on a particular news reader, Stas will contact the owner and ask for permission. undefined, we'll likely need your help to at least get the contact information. Once we have a specification on what the set of news readers for Tamil (Sri Lanka) should look like, the localization team and Stas will work on an implementation on that. This should happen by the localization team creating and attaching patches for the desired changes, and requesting review from Stas. After a successful review, the localization team will land them. If you're not feeling comfortable with creating those changes, ask Stas to help out. Please don't commit any modifications in browser/chrome/browser-region/region.properties to the hg repository without a patch reviewed by Stas, Axel or someone else appointed by Stas/SethB. The data here is sensitive to users and our search partners, thus the extra care here.
Hi Everyone, We are nearing the approach of our release candidates for Firefox 3.5. Have you had any chance to progress on the best RSS readers to include in the ta-LK version of Firefox? Please let us know as soon as possible.
Hello Seth, Many here are using Google Reader and we do not have a specific reader for Tamil (Sri Lanka). We are happy with Google, Yahoo and Bloglines. We can go with these three. If anything need to be done our side, plz guide us. Thanks, Sarves
Sarves: Should we consider netvibes.com (partially translated into Tamil) as the third or fourth reader? If not, let's go with the en-US default and close this bug.
Component: Other → ta-LK / Tamil (Sri Lanka)
Sure Seth, we can consider that as a 3rd reader. Hope that we can relay on this reader and it wont get vanished in sometime ;) Thanks, Seth!
(In reply to comment #4) > Sure Seth, we can consider that as a 3rd reader. If as the 3rd one, should we replace Bloglines? Would you mind creating a patch and attaching it in this bug for review, please? It should look something similar to this one: http://hg.mozilla.org/releases/l10n-mozilla-1.9.1/cy/rev/5fe2fbac33b6 > Hope that we can relay on this reader and it wont get vanished in sometime ;) That's our hope as well :) We wish them well (we use Netvibes in quite a lot locales).
Sarves, can you create a patch and attach it in this bug, please? Let me know if I can help with that. Thanks.

As requested by the ta-LK team, I created a patch that removes Bloglines and adds Netvibes. Staś, can you provide a review?
