I was working with a friend to diagnose his crashy-slow Firefox. We disabled all add-ons but he was still having problems. I got this note from him today:
I was using a menu-bar program called KeyCue. It allowed you to press and hold the CMD key and after a brief wait, it would show all the available keyboard commands for the active program (as well as any OS commands).

It was pretty cool. But since it involved the CMD key, and most of my crashes were when I was trying to activate a keyboard command in Firefox, I thought I'd try and remove it.
I've been trying different profiles, and am about to start adding Add-Ons back that have been dormant, but at the moment, it appears that this solved the problem.
I haven't had a crash since May 8, which I believe was when I removed the program (I wish I had written down when I removed it).
