Changing the descriptions of the items in the bookmark toolbar (for example from "The New York Times" to "NY Times") sometimes does not work. After restarting Firefox, the book mark descriptions revert to their previous versions. Reproduced several times, outcome seems unpredictable (?).
Reproducible: Sometimes
Steps to Reproduce:
1. go to "Bookmarks" then "Organize Bookmarks".
2. in the list of bookmarks in the "Bookmarks Toolbar", edit the "Name" of one of the bookmarks, for example from "The New York Times - Breaking News ..." to "NYTimes"
3. Close bookmarks editing window, close firefox, and restart firefox. The change may or may not have been saved.
Actual Results:
Bookmark name reverts to original name, in the above case "The New York Times - Breaking News ...".
Expected Results:
Bookmark name should have been changed to "NYTimes"

2 possible problems:
1. an extension could create the issue. Try to reproduce in safe mode: http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode
2. check in about:config that importBookmarksHTML is set to false

how do you check that it does not exists? you should write it in the filter, full name is browser.places.importBookmarksHTML

Found it, and it is set to "true". Changed it back to false. I don't think I ever messed with it (the only thing I ever changed in about:config was the color space correction flag). I will report in case I get additional issues - thanks!
