Part of the usefulness of MozMill will be running specific tests and getting leak and bloat statistics.
However, I've just tried comparing a Thunderbird test run where I've got files installed in chrome driving the test with an equivalent mozmill run, and the mozmill run is leaking lots of items according to the reference count logs.
Details on existing bloat tests: https://wiki.mozilla.org/MailNews:Memory_Bloat_and_Leak_Tests
New Bloat tests for mozmill: http://mxr.mozilla.org/comm-central/source/mail/test/mozmill/bloat/
Example Leak log attached from mozmill run. The equivalent steps for Thunderbird + chrome give an empty log file.

Interesting Mark! A couple of days ago I also run a debug build of Shiretoko accidentally with Mozmill and also got a lot of leaks. Looks like it is not restricted to Thunderbird only.

Mozmill will reach its end of life soon. We are currently working on getting all the tests for Firefox ported to Marionette. For status updates please see bug 1080766.
