Firefox does not start, when "Profiles"-directory can not be accessed any more (e.g. caused by file-system-errors like broken ntfs-symlinks)
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.make Profiles directory inaccessible (e.g. by broken ntfs-symlink on Windows XP)
2. try to start firefox
3.
Actual Results:
firefox does not start
firefox does not start in safe mode
Expected Results:
firefox should give error message, that Profiles directory is broken or can not be accesed
I agree and yes i know this is exactly when profile cannot be accessed.
Summary: Firefox does not start (not even in safe-mode) → Firefox does not give an error when the profile directory is inaccessible

Reporter, please retest with Firefox 3.6.12 or later in a fresh profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). Also update your plugins (flash, adobe reader, java, quicktime, silverlight, etc/) Go to the developer's website and download the latest version from there.
