# How will the prod / staging infrastructure work?
# Everything's running on a single OS X server right now
* PHP/MySQL web app
* PHP/MySQL build queue driving a Python script
* Public / private repack hosting
This could all be hosted on a single OS X server for simplicity during pilot - or it could be broken up such that the web app is on standard PHP/linux hosting with an OS X build queue machine doing the repack work. The second option would take some planning as to how to pass messages around.

Plans for the pilot application are hosting on one box, and moving staging and any other functions off to a separate box prior to release. This request has been made with IT
Moving forward the intent is to move the application off of OSX and onto the Linux web-hosting infra. That requires on-demand build generation from RelEng, which is not in place, and which will be requested for a Q4 2009/Q1 2010. Once that is in place, hosting and generation can be a decouple process which will give us quite a bit more flexibility but.
As noted above, some more planning around pushing hg changes in and triggering the build will be required, but I think it'll be reasonably straight forward once mechanics of submitting builds for generation and the status/error checking through the repack to hosted process is worked out.
cc'ing coop and joduinn so they're aware, and will talk to them in the coming week to lay out what we'll be trying to do.
Action item here will be, following pilot sign-off, to lay out framework for repack triggers and generation, signing, and staging.

FWIW: I've added a launchd task on staging (dm-partdist-stage01.mozilla.org) to auto-update from SVN trunk every 10 min. Making a note of it here, because we'll need the same thing if/when staging moves to a plain linux VM
