Build:2000082504m18 After adding details for new mime type for acrobat reader, if I click on a link with pdf extension, "Unknown File" dialog is popping up. I see this working fine in 2000081505m18 build.

This appears to be a problem with plugins not helper apps. The plugin manager is stepping in again and saying it will handle the content before helper apps gets involved. But it's just laucnhing PDF and not loading the content =(.

Andrei, please look into this and see what is happening and update the bug's comments so we can triage it.
This works like magic using today's build on linux. (2000090108m18). Seems that it got fixed. marking fixed.

I fixed this last night but didn't look up the build number =). conrad broke launching of user specified helper apps on august 21st. I just checked in a fix.
