In translating the Knowledge Base I (and the other Italian localizers as well) have always found far easier - rather than using the article online editor - to copy the full source of an English article in a text editor, translating it offline and then pasting the localization in the online editor - possibly making the final corrections with the online editor.
Major updates to articles localization are also made in this way.

Since I think this could be handy even to other localizers, would it be possible to have a link (somewhere in the interface, maybe under the "Source" link) that starts the download of the full source in text format?

Let me make sure I understand correctly the current steps taken, and what this bug would change.

Current steps:

1. Click Edit this page
2. Select the edit area
3. Press Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C

Is it correct that what this bug is requesting is:

1. Click e.g. "View page source"
2. Press Ctrl+A, Ctrl+C

?

Yes, I just mean this.
I would just like to download the plain article source, without selecting the "Source" link to open a new tab.

Sounds doable. Is there a way to tell Firefox to show the download window for plain text files? I'm guessing that's a server setup so it shouldn't be a problem.

Bump!

I thinks this bug fully applies to Kitsune. Now by now is practically impossible to get the source of an article. 

And when a translation is rejected, it seems the source is completely lost.
