Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.1) Gecko/20090715 Firefox/3.5.1
Moving a folder in the places organizer (aka the bookmarks library) will show a duplicate folder under some circumstances.
STR:
1) Create new profile
2) Bookmarks -> Organize Bookmarks...
3) Click the "+" next to "Bookmarks Toolbar" in the left column
4) Right-click "Bookmarks Toolbar" in left column
5) Choose "New Folder...", name it "test", then click "Add"
6) Drag "test" folder in left column and drop onto "Bookmarks Menu" in left column
7) Two "test" folders appear! The second one will appear ~100ms after the first one (observer issue?). If you rename or delete the second (fake) folder, it will affect the first (real) one. Changing the view to another folder and then switching back will cause the fake folder to disappear.
This issue started after the checkin for bug 405198.

Prior to bug 405198 landing, drag/dropping folders had been broken for a few months. Before that, it doesn't seem like display in the right column would even be visible when moving a folder.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".
In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.
Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
