507050 - wrong bookmark file picked up when firefox starts

After the last version of Firefox 3.5.1 was downloaded and installed, bookmarks file (bookmarks.html) was picked up from the directory Documents and settings/.../profiles/8gsj3zv7.default/ It has the date of 6/18/2008. Bookmarks stored in the subdirectory bookmarkbackups have correct up to date bookmark backups in .json format. When firefox starts, it picks up the old file. Can I get it to pick up one of the backups? It could have been a function of the install/restart code.

Reproducible: Always



Expected Results:  
Firefox should not have picked up the bookmarks from the obsolete (un-updated?) file bookmarks.html but from the bookmarkbackups subdirecory.

probably you had importBookmarksHTML pref flipped on before the update, so it imported them.
you can restore a JSON backup in Organize Bookmarks.
