Right now, autosync tries not to start downloading on idle until a certain amount of time has stopped since the component was loaded. This is a bit fragile. Now the front ends (TB and SM) send a notification when the 3-pane ui has come up, so autosync can remove the old hack and listen for the new notification. This should also prevent autosync running when xpcshell tests are run, which can make it a bit difficult to write xpcshell imap tests.
