User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.9.0.13) Gecko/2009073022 Firefox/3.0.13 Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; de; rv:1.9.0.13) Gecko/2009073022 Firefox/3.5.2 When starting firefox the Live Bookmarks/rss-feed should be updated but they aren't. New topics are reloaded only by manual input (right click -> reload). This happens just with feeds from vBulletin (Jelsoft) boards. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. go to the vBulletin board 2. click the RSS symbol in the adress bar and click "add 'feedname'" 3. rss page turns up, click "add" 4. when a new topic has been created, wait some time (for the board to render its internal rss-page), restart firefox and the new topic doesn't show up in the live bookmark. Expected Results: reload the live bookmarks at every start. Does occur with the default theme and on FX 3.0.13 as well. In FX 2.0.22 it worked flawlessly.
Here's some specific examples of vBulletin RSS feeds that will never update beyond its initial load in Live Bookmarks: http://www.dbstalk.com/external.php?type=RSS2&forumids=125 http://hfboards.com/external.php?type=RSS2&forumids=42 Here is one that DOES refresh properly: http://flyertalk.com/forums/external.php?type=RSS2&forumids=504 As the bug author noted, it's vBulletin forums that are primary culprits, and they do refresh properly with Firefox 2.x releases. They do not refresh properly in any release of Firefox 3.x
refresh not working on http://www.n-tv.de/rss

Refresh not working on http://www.winboard.org/forum/external.php?type=RSS2 Problem started with 3.0, still not working with latest 3.6a2pre nightlies. Sometimes it does refresh itself but very very seldom, I see this less then once per week (perhaps the interval is calculated wrong?) Manual refresh by context menu does always work.

Looking at those RSS they explicitely set 1 hour of TTL, that means we won't even try to update them before 1 hour from the last update.

"4." was meant to refer to the link which I provided in first place (http://www.mtb-news.de/forum/external.php?type=RSS2&forumids=5) On that site ttl is set to 10 minutes. I wanted to give an entire walk through and didn't know the right term then. Sorry for not being exactly on that but I haven't looked up the source code for the ttl (just took a glimpse on what the rss syntax is like), as the problems occurs even after long intervals (likeo days), in which assumingly the rss-feed is updated at least once - especially for forums. The sites Tony provided in Comment #1(https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=510474#c1) are actually set to 60 minutes.
I don't want us to get too hung up on TTL here, since that doesn't seem to be a factor. This RSS2 feed here http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/external.php?type=RSS2&forumids=504 has a TTL of 60, yet does not have a problem reloading when either Firefox 3.5x is launched for the first time, nor at the intervals defined in about:config for browser.bookmarks.livemark_refresh_seconds. (Mine is set to 1200 seconds FWIW). At launch, and then again every 1200 seconds, the flyertalk RSS feed is properly refreshed and new links appear, links are re-ordered based on thread activity, etc. Contrast that with the RSS2 feed here: http://www.letsgokings.com/bbs/external.php?type=RSS2&forumids=4 which also has a TTL of 60 and yet *never* refreshes properly at all, either at launch of FF 3.5x or at the 1200 second interval. The only way for me to refresh the RSS feed is to force a manual reload of the bookmark. This is what needs fixing in 3.x, and what was (and is) working fine in FF 2.x. MOST (not all) vBulletin RSS feeds do NOT refresh properly. In fact, of the dozen or so I have bookmarked, only the flyertalk.com feeds refresh properly. None of the others do. Normally I'd point the finger at vBulletin but the bookmark refreshing works properly with Firefox 2.x for every feed. - T
Reporter, are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 3.6.13 or later in safe mode or a fresh profile? If not, please close. These links can help you in your testing. http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles

Yes... still occurring with 3.6.13 in safe mode using the same links provided in the original report. They will never refresh after loading them initially.
Yes this still happens.
