When opening version 3.5.1, the message 'installing updates' appears followed by the installation bars. Firefox then fails to open.
Installing 3.5.2 directly from your website has the same effect.

This appears to be a duplicate of bug 510561. Not duping yet since the underlying cause isn't known as of yet. This is likely not an app update issue and is instead due to a component (possibly third party) that is breaking startup.

Maybe your firewall is blocking the updated Firefox version?

Windows firewall did not originally allow Firefox but this obviously wasn't a problem with version 3.5.1
Windows firewall has now been set to allow Firefox but version 3.5.2 still does not start.
What is meant by a new profile?

Hi Alan,
Can you please update to a recent version, create a fresh profile (see http://support.mozilla.com/kb/managing+profiles for more information), and test this again? If you still see this problem, please add a comment to this report and tell us your version and your operating system (Windows, Mac OS, Linux).
