This feature will (soon) regress in SeaMonkey too.
That bug was R.WontFix'ed for Thunderbird.

I've create an extension which turns on these columns (as opposed to using a
preference). [...] You can
give it a try here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/addon/9716

[...], we probably want some version of the patch here or the mentioned add-on
in the SeaMonkey version of the JS-driven folder pane.

Fwiw, I guess we should simply/only package this add-on in SeaMonkey.
(Unless Joey would want to have its source "in-tree".)
As a reminder, extensions are now available in mochitests (too),
so we could have non-regression tests even without "building" the add-on ;-)

We could simply just include the code from jmintas extension in your patch. No need to package any extension.

I don't think we want this as a packaged add-on, we want it directly integrated without being listed as an add-on. This should be easy though by just integrating the add-on code in the right places.

Yes, this should be fixed in our code directly.

As the folder pane rework wasn't done in this release, not wanted for 2.0 any more at this stage, let's push it to 2.1

Notice bug 464973 is fixed for TB, the extension was merged back with some improvements. You can pick the code up for SM. You may also want to wait until we do some more polishing on it, as in bug 1135536.

aceman, this bug is really old. I don't fully understand what it's about, but I wouldn't be surprised if it wouldn't apply (anymore? never ever?).
As far as I understand, this is about the extra columns in the MailNews folder pane. SM never lost those, and they have always been working correctly, at least up until bug 1136696.
The comments sound like the code also needs to be put back into Seamonkey and not being kept as an addon. But maybe the code was never ripped out of SM in the first place, only planned to be.

This bug was only for when bug 507601 is being done, i.e. the new non-rdf view ported to SeaMonkey. Unfortunately (but fortunately for this bug), nobody ever did that work.

Bug 507601 is basically fixed and the columns are still selectable. So can be closed.
