User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090810 Gentoo Firefox/3.5.2
Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090810 Gentoo Firefox/3.5.2
I do not want to use Acrobat Reader to open PDF files. But even if I select Okular as my favourite PDF viewer in the settings, Firefox tries to fire up Acrobat Reader whenever I double click on any PDF file in the Downloads list.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Download some PDF file.
2. Open "Downloads" window.
3. Double click on file name.
Actual Results:
Acrobat Reader opens the PDF file.
Expected Results:
Firefox should respect my settings.

Hi
just want to confirm this
using:
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux x86_64; en-US; rv:1.9.2.2) Gecko/20100317 SUSE/3.6.2-1.2 Firefox/3.6.2
got the same problem here. I set firefox to use evince as my default pdf-reader, which works everywhere, but the Download list. If I double-click on a pdf in the tools->downloads area the files gets opened with acrobat...
would be great, if this could get fixed, since it's very annoying.

Reporter, are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 3.6.13 or later in safe mode? If not, please close. These links can help you in your testing.

You can also try to reproduce in Firefox 4 Beta 8 or later, there are many improvements in the new version, http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html

Well, it seems to work now in Firefox 3.6.13.
It would be even better if Firefox could ask what to do with a file (like it does with any other non-html file) instead of just guessing the right behaviour, but at least the download window respects the settings now.
Thanks!

I just tried with Firefox 3.6.13 and the bug is still there... I tried the normal version as well as starting it in safe-mode, no change.
I'm using openSUSE 11.3 and the firefox version they are shipping.
Ok, I take it back, it seems that it still does not work. It sometimes works, but today Firefox tried to open a PS-File using GIMP - funny idea.
The irritating thing is: If I click on some link on some page leading to some PDF- or PS-file, then Firefox asks me what to do with it. When I open it from the downloads window, Firefox does whatever it wants.

No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 3.6.13 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). If you continue to see this issue with the newest firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.
