For questions related to BYOB, there should be a link in the site-wide page footer that allows a user/visitor to submit a query to the BYOB team. Ideally, to prevent exposing email addresses to spammers, this link would point at a web form which would collect and categorize the question, and forward it to the BYOB admins and editors. The contact us page should be a web form that: - collects contact information from the submitter that includes their name, email address, and the referring URL they clicked the "Contact Us" link from. If the submitter is logged into BYOB, ideally the contact information would be pre-populated from their account meta data - provide a mandatory drop-down that allows a user to categorize the issue. suggested initial categories are: - Question About BYOB (General Inquiries) - Customization Help - Approvals/Rejections - Technical Support/Help - Marketing/Use of Mozilla Marks - Suggestions/Requests for Enhancements - provides a free-form text area for a user to enter their question/comment - allow for the definition of global and per-category emails as form submission recipient(s) - permit auto-responder content for global and per-category submissions (i.e. option to add category specific content to a global auto-responder text confirming that the query was processed) - use a captcha to mitigate automated form submissions/spam Initial recipients should be the byob development team and users with the editors/admins role. Please let me know what additional information is required for information collection/routing. Thanks! k

Working my way through this, but I can't make sense of these points: - allow for the definition of global and per-category emails as form submission recipient(s) - permit auto-responder content for global and per-category submissions (i.e. option to add category specific content to a global auto-responder text confirming that the query was processed) Can you elaborate? Also, they make this sound like it's not a simple email contact form.

wrt addresses, what I was trying to capture was being able to specify addresses for where the formas would be delivered. Global addresses would be recipient addresses for all form submissions, regardless of the category selected. Per-category recipients would only receive email from form submissions using a specific category. Agreed that may not be simple, so for the pilot, global addresses are fine (i.e. a list of email addys who will get everything). wrt auto-responders, if it's possible, it'd be nice to send submissions auto-responder text with frequently asked questions and to confirm their submission has been processed. it's a nice-to-have for now. if it should be filed as an enhancement, we can do that. thx!

Added time estimate to whiteboard. I think I get it now. :) We want to configure the addresses that contact submissions are sent to, and maintain a set of per-category messages to send to the user submitting the form.
