A reload doesn't seem to help here. I see the problem for the first time with Firefox 3.0. It still worked fine with Firefox 2.
Similar problem with craigslist forums left frame (title list) visited links reversion in FF 3.0 first noted Aug 2008 and continuing now. After 24hrs plus some other condition (two closes of browser?) visited title links revert to unread. At least one other craigslist user has reported this, too. If I don't open the browser for two or more days, and then go to the forum, the visited links show correctly on that visit. But if I close and open FF after that, visitations over 24hrs old revert to unread. While this is not 3.5, I thought I would mention it. In Aug 2008 I chatted with someone via the Mozilla help chat. He walked me through many settings, didn't find anything. He thought it might be due to craigslist using iFrames and the history not storing such links, but clearly the visited status is stored SOMEWHERE on my computer. BTW, this happens whether the cache is cleared on closing FF or left to accumulate.
I confirm the same issue.
I was using Firefox 3.0.2. without issues (visiting a Craigslist forum and viewing a post would change the colour to 'visited') but when I upgraded to Firefox 3.5 on 1st July 2009 the problem appeared. I uninstalled and went back to 3.0.2.
I just upgraded to Firefox 3.5.2. expecting the problem would have been resolved but it still exists. I've disabled all add-ons and plug-ins but it still happens.
I saw the problem on Craigslist forums right after the browser was updated to version 3.5. Someone needs to correct the problem already.

Bug 451915 - move Firefox/Places bugs to Firefox/Bookmarks and History. Remove all bugspam from this move by filtering for the string "places-to-b-and-h".
In Thunderbird 3.0b, you do that as follows:
Tools | Message Filters
Make sure the correct account is selected. Click "New"
Conditions: Body contains places-to-b-and-h
Change the action to "Delete Message".
Select "Manually Run" from the dropdown at the top.
Click OK.
Select the filter in the list, make sure "Inbox" is selected at the bottom, and click "Run Now". This should delete all the bugspam. You can then delete the filter.
