Following bug 502597, mozilla-central now has a copy of the LDAP autoconfig component, as does comm-central.

We should resolve this at some stage: Firefox can't build with LDAP easily, so it is pretty much useless there, however we need to consider how we want to deal with autoconfig going forward.

We're not going to look at this until after TB 3 at least, but filing as a place holder to remind us.

Indeed, LDAP calls from prefcall.js isn't crucial for Firefox as it is in Thunderbird (at least for me now ...) but it could be usefull though .
We use autoconfig (MCD) in firefox to set Proxy, homepage, security preferences ..., all these don't need to retreive personnal logged in users information from ldap server, but , as a usage exemple, I once been ask to set the startup homepage as the one stored in the person ldap "labeledUri" attribute . Again, for large enterprise deployement, autoconfig (MCD) + support for ldap call is very usefull .
