Right now we have platform support including E4X. Self-hosting it, making it programmable syntax with a library (in JS) implementation, is the plan of record (bug 485791).

This bug is prudent until someone analyzes ES5 vs. E4X a bit harder, but don't count on it causing one line of E4X to be removed from any code that uses E4X.
