User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.2) Gecko/20090729 Firefox/3.5.2 GTB5
Build Identifier: Firefox/3.5.2
When I use the scroll wheel on the mouse the right click menu appears, unbidden. Each time this happens the browser automatically gets redirected back to the previous page I was viewing. This happens several times each hour, that I am using the laptop, which makes this problem most vexing. This is especially annoying when I am reading long documents that are several pages in length, meaning that it flicks to the previous page when I am wanting to move down the current one. If I wanted to go back a page, I would hit the back button.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
I do not know how to describe the steps to reproduce this problem, for the menu appears even though I have not actively clicked on the right mouse button. I do hope you can solve this without the information, because it is getting to the point where I should start assessing other browsers.

This works fine for me. Have you already tried safe-mode?
http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode
and a new profile: http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Basic+Troubleshooting#Make_a_new_profile ?
Are you sure it's not your mouse driver?

Something very similar is happening to me in Firefox 3.5.8. Usually the cursor is in an edit box and I've paused, with my fingers nowhere near the Backspace key, but the Shift key depressed. For no apparent reason the browser goes to the previous page, losing whatever I had typed in the edit box previously. It does this about once a day and so far I've been unable to reproduce it reliably. Weird. Windows XPSP2. A few add-ons, most notably Web Developer 1.1.8.

No reply, INCOMPLETE. Please retest with Firefox 4 or later and a new profile (http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Managing+profiles). Also, ensure you have the most up to date graphics drivers, operating system updates, and plugin versions (flash, java, etc). If you continue to see this issue with the newest Firefox and a new profile, then please comment on this bug.

I think I figured this out: my mouse's scroll wheel is very loose and sometimes scrolls a notch or two 'by itself' if I leave it between notches. In Firefox, holding Shift and scrolling the mousewheel navigates forward and back in pages.
I changed the Firefox setting mousewheel.withshiftkey.action from its default of 2 (navigate pages with Shift-scrollwheel) to 3 (zoom text with Shift-scrollwheel). Hopefully that will do it.

Since making the mousewheel.withshiftkey.action change, this issue has not recurred.
