Sean points out there's a large block of vertical whitespace on the homepage. See attached screenshot; in it, look at the space between the bottom-right promo and the footer.

This is one of the perils of a flexible-width layout. When seen in a narrower browser window, the left column is actually longer than the right.

As mentioned in comment #3 having a liquid layout will sometimes mean that you can have page layout issues like these. Closing as wontfix.
