When running the canvas benchmark located at http://widgetpad.com/67/, Fennec runs it at about 2-3fps, whereas both the WebKit based Midora, as well as Nokia's own gecko based brower archieve ~9fps.

forgot to mention, this is on my Nokia800

We really _care_ about canvas performance but there is no easy solution for that! :)
There is no easy fix for this. The long term fix is to use the new Layers GFX system with hardware acceleration. This work is being done and will appear in Fennec by the end of the year.
Yeah, layers should make Fennec as fast as other Gecko-based browsers. Or faster!
