we can pretty well determine that some crashes are related to a particular point in the start up process. once we identify those crashes we could get a good sense of real world start times out of the soccoro data. see bug 519729 for more details, and dolske's slick idea in comment 15. the charts there in https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=519729#c16 and 17 just show the the start times across all versions. we could actually do comparisons across several versions where we have a crash that affects many releases to tell us how real world start ups are changing release to release.
This seems like something hadoop would have to do.
