CNN is serving an annoying (full-window) ad from the pointroll.com ad-server, and we block the content, but not the overlay <div> that holds it, thereby rendering part of the content invisible.

I'm hoping the ad (for "the new cnn.com") will phase out soon, but I think we need to consider taking a fix for 2.0 and respinning :(

Fix A is to block the <div>; fix B would be some sort of whitelisting of the all of the ad-server's rules for cnn.com, which would be ugly.

Per irc, we'll not respin for this alone, but if we find anything else, this can ride-along.

I've landed it on cvs trunk for those folks, the 2.0 branch (for moving the tag, or 2.0.1), and 1_8 branch for 1.6.11 (for nightly users there, and to keep everything in sync in advance of the next regular ad-blocking bug).

Fwiw,
1. That seems to be limited to the US edition of CNN. I didn't see anything on edition.cnn.com.
2. From the look of it, it is the new top-level ad-format that was announced a few months ago. We'll probably see it more … ;-(.

The ad is now gone from www.cnn.com, too.
