When opening another tab in Firefox it looks like I got two firefox windows open in the taskbar.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Open firefox
2. Open an extra tab
3. Look at the taskbar
Actual Results:
For every extra tab I open it looks like I got an extra firefox window open
Expected Results:
It should only show as one window and not two windows when there is only one window with several tabs

Can you please attach a screenshot? Does it matter in which way you create a new tab?

and it does not matter how I create the tab. Tried CTRL+T, new tab button and open link in a new tab.

Rob, is that related to bug 474056?

This is the result of bug 474056. It is a feature. You can disable it setting browser.taskbar.previews.enable = false in about:config

So this behavior is unique for each and every application on Windows 7 which has this feature enabled?
Comment 6•16 years ago

I'm not sure what you mean by unique behavior. Applications have control over the number and appearance of the items in the taskbar in Windows 7. The only other application that I know of that takes advantage of this control this currently is Internet Explorer 8. By default you'll see one preview per window.

I have checked this with IE8 and it behaves exactly the same way. Opening another tabs will display a stack of windows in the taskbar. So is that invalid?

Not a bug, but this is the new features of firefox in windows 7. there is a bug on turning it off.
