User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9) Gecko/2008052906 Firefox/3.0 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) There is tab within our website which houses a PDF file. Using Adobe 7 and 9 with firefox, the PDF will not display, using Adobe 8, the PDF tab crashes firefox. I'm trying to find a way to get the PDF in the tab of our website to show correctly in firefox. in IE 7 and 8 this works fine. I have the firefox PDF extension loaded, i've tried uninstalling it and reinstalling it. I've also tried firefox 3.0 and 3.5.4 with the same results as listed above. This is not a case where we can just download the PDF file and use adobe reader, we need to be able to show the pdf within firefox. Please advise. Thank you. Does it happen with 3.5.5 and adobe 9.2 in a new profile?
I have confirmed this morning that it does still happen in 3.5.5 and adobe 9.2 with a new profile. I had navigated to a test PDF file, and a full size PDF does display fine in firefox. Does firefox support have any known limitations on sizing or settings for PDFs that are displayed in Firefox? I will get some crash ID's for my next comment soon.

Can you be more specific as to what may have caused the problem in firefox with acrobat, or which part specifically pointed to it being an acrobat issue? I didnt' want to open a ticket at adobe without something specific to ask or reference. Thanks.
Well, give them this bug.
Harsh... Ok i'll just give them the bug, i did't know if they'd come back and say this is a firefox core. Thanks for all the help guys.
Unfortunetly, Adobe support kicked me back to firefox support due to the face that this works fine in IE, Chrome and other browsers. Any additional information would be appreciated. Thanks agian.
Um, they shouldn't do that. Would someone from Adobe please find someone from Adobe who is willing to come out and play? Thanks.

This stack looks suspiciously like a but that was fixed in Reader 9.1.x (I don't remember the exact version) and then was back-ported to 8.1.7. Can you verify the version of nppdf32.dll you have in your Firefox plug-ins folder? Sometimes there are patching issues that will prevent this from being correctly updated. There is also a known bug on Firefox window-close, with various stacks, in the very unusual case that the user has forced two separate Firefox processes. Can you confirm you are not doing this? If you don't know... then you're not ;) Do you have a URL I can test? From your description referencing "full size PDF file" that works, I'm guessing that you are embedding the PDF in an HTML document in some way. Without seeing how, I don't have any suggestions yet.
I have two files in my plugins folder; nppdf32.dll from 10/14/2008 and npnul32.dll from 11/2/2009. It sounds like the first file may be pretty old, how would i update this successfully? I don't believe i have two separate firefox processes occuring on my machine. I'll look into getting a test URL for you. I could also try and make sure i try 8.1.7 if the fix you mention was backported.
That does sound old; old enough to have the relevant bug still in it. Your installation of Reader should have a "Browser" directory; in it is an nppdf32.dll. Replace the old one with that one; simply draggging the new one into the plug_ins folder should do it.
from the crash report : nppdf32.dll 8.1.3.187 Installing 9,x and copying the plugin should make it work.
Thanks everyone, Upgrading to 8.1.7 worked and copying the plugin also worked. Thanks for all the help. -Chris
