Details

Most videos I try and watch on my Linux box fail, for the following reason. Steps to reproduce: 1) Load http://www.spreadfirefox.com/5years/en-US/ 2) Wait a few seconds for network activity to cease 3) Click big "Play" icon on video 4) Watch first 5-10 seconds of video 5) Video stops to buffer; greys out, progress spinner appears 6) Buffer fills up (as noted by white bar moving across timeline) 7) Progress spinner disappears and video colours restored, but video does not start playing again. 8) Buffer continues to fill. At this point, clicking Play/Pause does nothing, and dragging the time slider to another point within the buffer (i.e. where data should be available) causes the progress circle to reappear indefinitely. There is no way of getting the video to resume. This happens on many videos. The only way I can watch a video all the way through is by it being small enough never to have to buffer. Or by downloading it and watching it in Totem, where it comes out fine. If I stream it to Totem, it stops to rebuffer every second or so :-( but it does resume after rebuffering. This is Ubuntu Linux 9.10 (Karmic) Browser: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2b1) Gecko/20091029 Firefox/3.6b1 Let me know if I can provide more info. I tried to do a screencast but Istanbul kept crashing on me :-( Gerv
Looks like the same as, or related to, bug 526411. Gerv, does same thing happen when you manually pause then press play?
Yes; if I manually pause and press play, the video does not resume. And Full Screen kicks it into life again, as that bug reports. Gerv
