After Upgrade to 2.0, I can't post to newsgroup any longer. I can receive mails and newsgroup postings and send emai, but send posting does not work any longer. When I press the "send" button, I will get a message "sending failed, please check account settings" a short moment later. I can't see anything wrong in my settings, but I'm not an expert, and I can't ask in "de.comm.software.mozilla.mailnews" or other newsgroup.

First check if the SMTP server settings are fine. If not successful: 1. Open the Passwort Manager 2. Search the mailbox... item for this NNTP account. 3. Remove it. 4. Try again. Perhaps you need an username and a password for the news server. Perhaps you need two runs for setting both of them. If not successful: Create a new profile, create the news account in that new profilea and try again.
I created a new profile and created a new account there: works fine No idea why the account in my original profile does not allow to send.
Seems to be some import issue! An account for news.individual.de that I created in a new profile worked without problems. I deleted a (not working) account "news.mozilla.org" in my original profile and created it newly: New recreated account "news.mozilla.org" also works without problems. Old still existing account still does not allow to send
I just ran across this. and To clean up from move to SM 2 I dumped all the MSF files. I found the settings to the *SMTP* server had changed. the item secure authentication had suddenly become unchecked. I am putting up a Screenshot to show. Note I use the Mac version of SM2. It only affects news groups Note email
None of the hints here or from "mozilla.support.seamonkey" healed my problem. I will repair my news-account due to <https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/attachment.cgi?id=412403> tomorrow. Can I attach any configuration file for further research?
opps, due to #4
Rainer, is the problem solved? your comment 8 is ambiguous.
I deleted and recreated my SM news account, no the problem is solved for me, I can't check whether the migration problem SM1 -> SM2 still exists.
Duping this to Bug 525649 for the time being.
