on the same account where I untarred it...

2000-09-17-06, again judging from filesize does the same thing. Attaching strace

Checked with 2000-09-18-08, as a normal user, but mozilla does not open its
window. Tried as root, and hurra! there's mozilla's window. Afterwards, any
normal user can see mozilla's window.

Attaching md5sums of files that got changed by root's run. Suppose this makes it
a dup of bug 51164
