This idea may seem way out there, but...

I was thinking about the bugzilla layout, and it looks like it could use a
major overhall, I find myself using the back and forward buttons way to
much, and needing to scroll up and down to get to where I want to go. So,
I was thinking about giving users the option to use a 3 paine layout. (I'll
attach a rough sketch soon). This layout would work like the mail-news
layout, with the saved queries and links to the varrious pages on the right
frame (I know we all hate frames, but this is an option, not the
requirement), the buglist on the top frame, and a 'preview' that shows the
full bug report on the bottom. You could click on a bug from the top paine
to open a new window with the standard form.

This is clearly a low priority, but I think that it would make bugzilla easier to
use, and eliminate the need for using the back and forward buttons so
much.
I am soooooo dumb. Misspelled pane the whole way through. Oops.
CCing timeless because he asked me to.
Summary: 3 paine layout option → 3 pane layout option
I just attached a gif of what I think this could look like. My comments on
possible things are in red.
This is an interesting idea. I would recommend combining this with timeless's
idea for an xul interface. But we would still need to keep the standard basic
interface around for browsers that can't do xul or frames.
For sure. I ment this as an option. One that you would turn on in the prefs
screen. It could be up to the admins (via the params) as to weather they
want the 3 pane or the standard to be the dafault (I think the standard
should be the default so older browsers still work, but we could use
brower detection...)

The User Interface component now belongs to Gerv. Reassigning all UNCONFIRMED
and NEW (but not ASSIGNED) bugs currently owned by Myk (the previous component
owner) to Gerv.

Reassigning back to Myk. That stuff about Gerv taking over the User Interface
component turned out to be short-lived. Please pardon our confusion, and I'm
very sorry about the spam.

This is now easier with templates, and I think it's an idea whose time has come.
The XUL implementation is Bugxula (http://bugxula.mozdev.org/), but the HTML
implementation can be another format for the home page with frames that pull in
additional formats for the query, bug list, and show bug pages.

Bumping up priority and retargeting to 2.20.
