Per bug 517627 (see description for link) we need to change the color of the search box on mo.sumo to distinguish it from the desktop site.

CC'ing Caitlin and David, to work out any design decisions.
We haven't chosen a color yet, I think. Anyone?
Anything else blocking besides color?

I defer to jslater/garrity's expertice for the design decisions. As for the copy, I would suggest the same text as for desktop Firefox but adapted to mobile: "Search Firefox Help for Mobile"

Neil, as the resident SUMO UI person, any thoughts here?

Here's a quick hacked-together blue version of the search background box. Background PNGs and photoshop file included.

The addded "for mobile" part of this graphic makes it impossible to localize. I suggest we remove that part and add the text "Search Firefox Help for Mobile" (replacing the text "Search the Knowledge Base")

Here's a GIMP hack of the search background without the hardcoded en-US text. I don't know if GIMP treats colors differently compared to Photoshop, so if this one doesn't look identical, we should wait for Garrety to whip this up in Photoshop.

Thanks Garrity (not Garrety!) :)

John pointed out to me that this search background uses the old firefox logo. Steven, could you update it with the new logo instead? My GIMP hackery is probably not suitable for that task.

I don't (yet) see this using IE 6, but do with Opera 10, Safari 4, Google Chrome, Firefox 3.0/3.5/3.6, and IE 7.
Is(n't) there a specific stylesheet for IE 6?

As far as I could tell, the searchbar.png and searchbar-ie6.png files were the same, so I just copied over this new one. It looks just as good in IE6 as it did before.
