User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091102 Firefox/3.5.5 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.0; en-US; rv:1.9.1.5) Gecko/20091121 Thunderbird/3.0 I can't add RSS feeds to my thunderbird 3rc1 installation. I just upgraded from thunderbird2 and deleted all my RSS feeds and folders from thunderbird2 (maybe that caused the problem?). At this point trying to add RSS feeds, nothing happens and it doesn't work. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. click the "News & Blogs" folder on the left pane 2. click "Manage Subscriptions" on the right pane 3. pick a folder under "News & Blogs" and click "Add" 4. in The Feed URL paste this: http://rss.cnn.com/rss/cnn_topstories.rss 5. choose the folder for "Store articles in" 6. click OK Actual Results: the "Feed Properties" window closes but nothing happens. The feed is not added and the folder is still empty. Expected Results: if i remember well in thunderbird2, when you click OK in the "Feed Properties" window, a progress bar appears and messages from the feed are added in the "News & Blogs" subfolder that you selected.

The same happens in safe mode. What's even more strange is that I created a new profile to test if it's a problem with my profile. In that new profile there is no folder on the left for feeds. But on the right pane there is a button "Manage subscriptions". And when I click it, nothing happens... I may have customized some thunderbird config files through the years (user.js and the like) but as far as I remember this is only in the profile, not in the thunderbird directory? so a clean profile should avoid those customizations..
I'm willing to suspect this may be account corruption... can you post the relevant feeds.rdf?

here is the feeds.rdf from my main profile but i don't think it's connected to the problem because as i wrote i created a new profile and also there it's not working properly.
What happens if you delete that feeds.rdf and try again?

well now it started working. there were several steps. first i couldn't see some feed folders and also once i noticed at the bottom of the list of folders on the left pane there was a lot of blank space, the scrollbar let me scroll very far down, and there seemed to be nothing displayed. when clicking over that blank space i could select entries but do nothing with them (and nothing appeared except the selection marker). somehow one day the folders appeared again i deleted all, deleted my feeds.rdf, and now it seems to work. i have no idea what caused this but probably some messy combination of stuff from past versions of thunderbird and maybe some HD corruption who knows. there were for sure TB profile corruptions through the years. anyway, sorted now. next time i won't report this except if i can reproduce on a computer with a shorter TB history.

hmm well now it downloads all of the feeds messages, even those already downloaded, every time. well i guess i'll give up on this feature for now, on this machine.
