User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2b4) Gecko/20091124 Firefox/3.6b4 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 6.1; en-US; rv:1.9.2b4) Gecko/20091124 Firefox/3.6b4 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) When any extension is installed or updated, most customizations of the toolbar are lost (buttons and the search field which i had removed come back, the button i'd added - from the Personal Menu extension - goes away, and reordering of buttons - I'd swapped the stop and reload buttons - are reset). However, the toolbar icon size (small) is preserved and hidden toolbars (even the menubar) stay hidden. This also occurred on upgrading firefox itself, from b3 to b4. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Customize toolbar 2. Install a new extension 3. Restart firefox Actual Results: The toolbar customizations are lost. Expected Results: Toolbars stay customized. I'm using the Charamel theme. I have the following extensions installed: DOM Inspector Download Statusbar Firebug Fission Grab and Drag Jetpack Locationbar2 Microsoft .NET Framework Assistant Noise Personal Menu Silvermel and Charamel XT Speed Dial Stylish (I also have one userstyle to show either stop or refresh based on whether stop button is disabled) Tab mix plus
User-Agent:Mozilla/5.0 (X11; Linux x86_64; rv:2.0b8pre) Gecko/20101017 Firefox/4.0b8pre
I can confirm this all. Also, when we run two instances of firefox simultaneously, second (and next) one will have toolbars buttons reset to default state.
Version: unspecified → 3.6 Branch
I can confirm this as well. It happens on random occasions - even with default theme. I have tried disabling my exentsions
This happens to me on FF5 and Windows 7 all the time (I have even used a clean profile)
Severity: normal → S3

Happened to me on an update to 132.0b2, and as far as I remember, also a few past updates. All customized toolbar buttons wiped clean, had to re-add them.

Please check #1923065, this is a 15 years old issue :)

Yes, but that fact doesn't invalidate this bug. You can mark this a duplicate of that shiny new one, or vice versa.

OTOH, this means Mozilla clearly lacks hands and/or resources to solve it in time.
