When I use a Spell Checker Haitian Creole is only listed as Haitian. I would like to have this issues resolve.

Some additional info - we're collaborating on a Haitian Creole spell checker (https://addons.mozilla.org/ga-IE/firefox/addon/48577) and the localized language name appears in the context menu under "Languages" when right-clicking a word.

Many Haitian Creole speakers in the US would be using an en-US build so it is important to correct this in the source file
toolkit/locales/en-US/chrome/global/languageNames.properties

In addition, "Haitian" is the string which localization teams are translating, leading to mistakes in other important localizations, e.g. French has simply "Haïtien" instead of "Créole haïtien"

http://www.loc.gov/standards/iso639-2/php/code_list.php lists both Haitian and Haitian Creole as possible names to be used in English (also in French :  	haïtien and créole haïtien). That list is the source for languageNames.properties.

http://www.ethnologue.com/show_language.asp?code=hat also lists Haitian as the primary name and Creole or Haitian Creole as alternatives

There is no reference beyond Ethnologue and its derivatives that suggests that anyone calls the language Haitian.

The full linguistic name (see Wikipedia, for example) is Haitian Creole. Many speakers of the language call it simply Creole (or Kreyòl).

Given that this change has been requested by the community, and given that Haitian Creole is already listed as an alternative name in the Registry, I see no reason why we shouldn't take this change.

I don't think that wp is the reference, both SIL and ethnologue go for Haitian.

In the long run, I'd favor to not have this entry in English to begin with, and only keep Haitian in Haitian in content code, I'll update the relevant bugs to that extent. At which point, this is a no-op.

Thus I'll r- this, and resolve this bug as WONTFIX.
