Please consider adding support for the EXSLT Functions extension; in particular, for func:function and func:result. These extensions allow creating new XPath functions. This allows modularity in much the same way that xsl:call-template does, but with much less verbose syntax than xsl:call-template. Reference: http://www.exslt.org/func/index.html
