If you run a tag-based search, the 'edit search' link appears. Its possible to use that to edit the search, and then 'remember' it as a regular search, where it then sliently loses the LIST_OF_BUGS bit. I can see a use-case for moving a tag-based query to a regular one, but there should at least be a warning of some sort, since you can't move it back.
I did not attempt to edit a search based on a tag. When I tagged bug reports, the tag name appeared in the footer as if it were a saved search. When I selected the tag and got a list of the tagged bugs, I wanted different columns, so I selected the link "Change Columns". There was a checkbox for "Save this column list only for search 'Ross-tracking'", which I checked because I wanted the same set of columns every time I got the list of these tagged bugs. I then selected the "Change Columns" button, which gave me the list of tagged bugs with the columns I wanted. At the bottom of the page (above the footer), the name of the tag appeared in an input area under the "Remember Search" button. Since I did indeed want to save the column setup, I selected the button. Now comes the question. If I'm not supposed to edit a "saved search" that is really a set of tagged bug reports, how do I retain the column setup for the next time I select the tag name for a search?
Ah, the column change step was missing in your post. Clicking 'remember search' will overwrite the fact that its a tag query (although not the query itself) - that is this bug. If you hadn't clicked 'remember', the column sorting would have vanished next time you added a tag - bug 503398.
