after firefox decided to update itself (i tried cancelling, but it wouldn't cancel), nothing on my computer opens, not firefox, not msn, not my email, not internet explorer, not my antivirus program, even ctrl + alt + delete or ctrl + shift + esc work, i can't lock, log off, restart, or shut down my computer without holding down the power button...NOTHING on my computer will open no matter how many times i hold down the power button then turn it back on...i could only open firefox right now because i'm in "safe mode", which really isn't very convenient now is it
Reproducible: Didn't try
Steps to Reproduce:
1. if nothing opens, how am i supposed to be able to "reproduce it"

The windows safemode or the firefox one ?
Does it work in the Firefox safemode :

windows safe mode...kind of hard to open firefox safe mode if nothing opens at all after firefox updates itself

Um, so selecting, "Firefox (Safe mode)" from the start menu doesn't open? make sure you didn't already try to open it.
the start menu doesn't even open unless the computer is in safe mode, everything was working fine before this update

Firefox or the Firefox installer doesn't change anything in the system or replaces system files.
I'm 100% sure that your issues with windows itself are unrelated to the Firefox update and it must be something else.

Yeah, if start menu won't open in normal mode, I highly suspect a virus infection.
well, my computer was working perfectly fine until firefox updated itself

Still, firefox does not change anything that would cause issues like this. I would highly recommend that you run several virus scans, or have a professional remove the viruses. It may be something else which is causing that (firefox can not be), but in my day job as a pc tech, when something like that happens, we suspect viruses.
