Today 20091216, I downloaded the 1.9.2 nightly .exe for wince-arm to 'my documents' on my htc touch pro (using opera). I had previously cleaned off my device of all fennec related stuff as I had some automation issues and wanted a clean environment. This worked fine and I started the installation. * first install- failure to create shortcut * second install- extraction error * click see splash screen- no launch, reboot, click see splash screen- no launch * third install- no errors * click see splash screen- no launch the no launch thing might be a different issue, this bug is related to the extraction error and shortcut error.
"No launch" is definitely a different issue. As for the installation errors - it might be that you still had leftovers from the last Fennec installation. The shortcut creation error almost certainly means there was an old shortcut, which WinMo API function by design cannot not overwrite. Extraction error is more tricky - it's difficult to say for sure what's that. Maybe some old files still existed and were locked, or there was just the file system error during extraction (this may happen on WinMo from time to time for some reason). These issues will be investigated. Bug 533581 is related to this one.

I saw an extraction error when installing today's nightly build on my omnia 2: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; WindowsCE 5.2; en-US; rv:1.9.2.2pre) Gecko/20100208 Namoroka/3.6.2pre Fennec/1.0a4pre ...after rebooting the device, I installed the downloaded .exe file successfully installed the program.
The error is reported by the 7-zip library, which apparently cannot extract or write an extracted file for some reason. Why this happens - difficult to say. Some file might be still locked, though it should not happen with the latest installer/uninstaller fixes. Aakash, did you have an old Fennec installed on your Omnia when you got this extraction error? If you had, how old was it? You might have an older version, which uninstaller didn't have the latest fixes, and could leave something behind on removing. I've been running the installer on my HTC TouchPro probably a hundred times recently - never got this extraction error.
I updated 2/8's nightly build from 2/7's nightly build. I hadn't cleared my profile for a couple weeks before that, but I can't give you an exact date.
This year we mothballed windows mobile development. See: http://blog.pavlov.net/2010/03/22/stopping-development-for-windows-mobile/ Marking bugs in the windows mobile / windows ce bucket as WONTFIX.
