User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091201 Firefox/3.5.6 GTB6 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) Build Identifier: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091201 Firefox/3.5.6 GTB6 (.NET CLR 3.5.30729) When working with MS Word 2007, with a document open, and going to Firefox to access a web page, the web page will not load. Firefox seems to "hang" indefinately. As soon as I close Word, Firefox takes off and operates normally. This has been experienced numerous times and is becoming predictable. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Open and start an MS word 2007 document 2. While document is open, try and open Firefox or access a web page 3. Firefox will not load. 4. Close MS word completely. 5. Firefox continues to load fine. Actual Results: As described Expected Results: As described
Is Firefox already running when you try to access a page, or is it closed? Are you clicking a link or just clicking a Firefox icon to open to go to a page? Are you getting any error message? Do you see firefox.exe in task manager? Does the issue still occur if you start Firefox in Safe Mode? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Safe+Mode How about with a new, empty profile? http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+profiles?s=profile
Hello Tim: You have some good questions. 1. Firefox is already running when this problem occurs. 2. I am clicking on a bookmarked page 3. I am getting no error message, Firefox just hangs 4. I have not tried starting Firefox in safe mode as the problem occurs when I am using the system. 5. 5. Not certain what you mean by a “new empty profile”. A typical scenario- I already have Firefox open and I open/start MS word to create a document (usually a quote for a customer). During the work up of the quote, I need mileage information, to and from the customer, so I go to Google and google maps to determine this. In trying to access the google page (for instance, I usually just type in the google search bar, “Albany, NY”) and hit the search icon, this is where Firefox will hang. If I go back to MS word and save my file (I now save before I go out to Firefox), and then close Word, Firefox kicks in again and completes it connection to the web page. Certainly I have figured out a work around, but its as if the two programs were trying to use the same resources. I am using Windows XP, Home Edition, Version 2002, SP 3, on a Toshiba Satellite Notebook with and Intel Celeron M CPU (not dual core) running at 1.60 Ghz with 1.37GB RAM. I hope this helps! Best regards, DA
Dave: You really should read that link about making anew profile to rule out your firefox configuration being corrupt. http://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Managing+profiles?s=profile
Reporter -> Are you still experiencing this issue? Have you tried safe mode or a new profile?
