Help still refers [1] to the old way of customizing the Personal Toolbar, i.e. the Navigation Toolbar checkboxes under Edit/Preferences/Browser. The only items left there are Search and Go. Other buttons, like Home, Print and Bookmarks [2], are now handled using the Customize Toolbar sheet which is currently undocumented.

This bug is for changing the existing Help parts (see below for two examples) to match the new reality and document how toolbar customization works (e.g. by explaining how to move the Home button from the Personal Toolbar to the Navigation Toolbar, how to switch off the text labels, how to enable small icons, ...).

Bug 529647 removed Search and Go from the panel, too.

At the moment on the Personal Toolbar there is a widget called "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" but throughout help it is just referred to as "Personal Toolbar" and in Bookmark Manager it is "Personal Toolbar Folder", should we try to somehow get some consistent naming?

What I propose is that I spin off a bug to rename "Personal Toolbar Folder" and "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" to something like "Personal Bookmarks Folder". Any better ideas are welcome.

Attachment: Remove incorrect help and fix unrelated TOC entry patch v0.1 [Checkin: Comment 8]

This patch:
* Removes incorrect parts of help to do with buttons on toolbars.
* Fixes unrelated entry in TOC for password manager (found when checking for references to turning buttons on and off).

A future patch, once this is checked in and spin off bug is fixed, will to be correct help round customization including talking about mailnews as well as browser toolbars.

OK, let's see...
1. "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" is just wrong, since there is no "Bookmarks Toolbar". The containing toolbar is called "Personal Toolbar".
2. I'm not sure what exactly we have in Help, but I guess we don't have "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" yet because that would be part of this bug. So for the rest it would be interesting if we used "Personal Toolbar" as the term referring to what that "Bookmarks Toolbar Items" placeholder represents or only when referring to the toolbar itself.
3. "Personal Toolbar Folder" is mostly correct, maybe "Personal Toolbar Bookmarks Folder" would be even more precise but inside the Bookmarks Manager that seems to be overkill.

Summing up: We should probably make this more consistent, both in the UI and Help, but take care to choose a term that in itself refers to valid items (i.e. Personal Toolbar, not "Bookmarks Toolbar"), while making it fit well in all places. I propose "Personal Toolbar Bookmarks [Folder]". Anyway, let's move that discussion to its own bug.

As Neil pointed out on IRC, it is probably best to wait until Places Bookmarks landing has happened before doing anything round that part of help as Places (in Firefox) does not let you set other folders to be the "Bookmarks Toolbar".

This should get some description on the specific case of the dual toolbar in the main browser window, to avoid issues as described in bug 854737.
