From 3.5 the fonts ( and settings ) defined by gnome are not respected by Firefox. This happens especially for anialiasing and happens in pages contents as in menu texts.
This is a very important issue to be solved.
Is not iammginable that at this point of Linux and Firefox development still exists issues like that.

Reproducible: Always
I can confirm that. Firefox 3.5.7 and 3.6.2pre2 (on Ubuntu 9.10, if it matters).

I can add screeshot, if needed.
please add a screenshot. thanks.
Here it is. Looks like Firefox is always using "Subpixel smoothing" while Gnome is using "Best contrast".

I hope it's clearly visible on the screenshot.
I've made another screenshot. Smoothing and hinting are turned off now. System fonts are ugly but Firefox is still using some smoothing and hinting.
Reporter, are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 3.6.13 or later in safe mode? If not, please close. These links can help you in your testing.

You can also try to reproduce in Firefox 4 Beta 8 or later, there are many improvements in the new version, http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html
