Fennec uninstaller doesnt uninstall when app is still open
Its not obvious to the user when uninstalling the fennec app that it will fail if fennec is still open. You need to close fennec first before uninstalling via app manager Repro: 1) install 20091230 fennec nightly build on n900 2) open fennec 3) on n900, go to app manager > uninstall > search for fennec 4) attempt to uninstall, and verify the message appears saying Fennec cannot be uninstalled 5) Now close fennec app, and then try steps 1-4 again. it will uninstall Expected: - if uninstalling with app open is not supported, then can we find a way to display a more intuitive message? It's not obvious to the user that their uninstallation failed because fennec app was still open.
the prerm script is supposed to kill any running fennec before the uninstall. Obviously this failed. http://mxr.mozilla.org/mobile-browser/source/installer/debian/fennec.prerm.in
to clarify, its fails to install on first try (if app is still open). however, after the first message saying uninstall fails, it does shut down the app correctly. Trying to uninstall immediately on 2nd try, will in fact uninstall the application (app has been shut down).
