Hi Christopher,
please try this again in Safe Mode.
To me it looks like the site has been set to contentEditable.
Also, can you please go to Tools > Options. Click the Advanced panel, select the General tab.
Uncheck __Use the cursor key to navigate within pages__ if it's not yet unchecked.

Hello,
I've got two systems (one WinXP SP3, Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20091221 Firefox/3.5.7; the other Ubuntu Karmic, Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.1.7) Gecko/20100106 Ubuntu/9.10 (karmic) Firefox/3.5.7) that were exhibiting this behavior. As above, I turned off the 'Use the cursor key to navigate within pages' option and have had no recurrence on either machine. Sadly, no Mac to check it out on, but it does seem to be the source of it.

Reporter, are you still seeing this issue with Firefox 3.6.13 or later in safe mode? If not, please close. These links can help you in your testing.

You can also try to reproduce in Firefox 4 Beta 8 or later, there are many improvements in the new version, http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-beta.html

This hasn't been a problem for quite some time now. How does one close a bug report?

It looks like this isn't fixed, at least not completely. I see similar behavior when I have an iframe where the src's body has the contentEditable attribute set true.

It seems that if you have a height set on the body, the cursor takes up the height of the body instead of the line-height. I was able to change the height of the body and have it adjust the cursor size.
