I have Lightning set up to sync with 3 Google calendars (Personal, School, Work) using Gdata provider. I have an event on the Personal calendar lasting one hour. This event is displayed as on the School and Work calendars as well as the Personal calendar (as in, 3 different, separate events, all with the same name/time/details). I checked my Google calendar online to make sure it wasn't my fault. Did a check again to make sure Lightning wasn't creating the duplicate events and saving them to my calendar.

Interestingly, events show properly on the side pane when in the Inbox view...

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Thunderbird 3 and nightly build of Lightning + gdata-provider
2. Enter password for Google Calendars
3. Wait for calendar data to be downloaded (~30 secs)
Actual Results:
Local cache of calendars populated with events, but events are duplicated to other calendars locally (not remotely).

Expected Results:
Should show events and not duplicate them.

Using the latest nightly build (01 Jan 2009).

Have you enabled the experimental cache feature for more than one calendar? In this case it is a duplicate of Bug 479867.
Heh, I was looking at that yesterday and thought I had caching turned off. Looks like I was wrong. Interestingly, the previous version of Thunderbird + Lightning (released version, not nightly) worked like a charm with caching enabled for me.
