Whenever there is a website that needs flash, the bar comes up that says "an additional plugin is needed, click to install". This happens even though I have flash already installed. Whenver the flash plugin is installed (it successfully identifies, downloads and "installs" the correct plugin), flash still doesn't work.
Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Go to www.youtube.com
2.click any video
3."install" flash
4.try any youtube video again
Actual Results:
The bar that says flash is needed still appears.
Expected Results:
Flash should have installed and the video should have played.
My computer is AMD, which shouldn't cause an issue but you never know. I've also done some about:config things, but only involved things like max requests and pipelining.

Do you see Flash installed when you go to about:plugins? What version is installed? Is flash listed if you go to http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/? Are you running an x86 or x64 OS? Have you ever been able to view flash with this install?

Flash doesn't say it is installed, but it should be. I'm running 64-bit Win7 Home Premium. I've had firefox 3.6 32 bit and flash worked fine there, but not on the 64 bit.

There are 2 versions of Flash - an x86 and and x64. You need to install both versions if you want it to work with a x64 browser.

Tim, there is only one final release version of flash, and that is x86. You can install it on an x64 system, and it will run on an x86 browser, but not an x64. However, firefox is an x86 browser, at least on windows. we don't have a x64 version yet. So, if you are running firefox on vista x64, you will have a x86 firefox, and an x86 flash, at least right now.
Jack, do a couple of things for me. First, you are running shiretoko. Please go to mozilla.com and download the final version of 3.5.6. Then, go to adobe.com and download the firefox flash plugin. Then, after installing both of those, go to about:plugins, and tell me if you see flash listed.
Version: unspecified → 3.5 Branch

Flash is there and it works! So what's up with shitetoko?

So you have flash now? Good. Then this was just configuration issue.
Shiretoko is the code name of the firefox 3.5.x branch, and is used in the nightly builds. If you have been using a nightly version of 3.5.x, or had built your own. it would be called shiretoko. However, it is not the final, official and supported version of firefox.
