User-Agent: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9.1.6) Gecko/20091201 Firefox/3.5.6 (.NET CLR 2.0.50727) Build Identifier: Lightning 1.0b2pre The current e-mail invite for events created from Lightning consists of a simple e-mail with a content type of text/calendar. This is fine for clients that are ICS-aware, but it's really obnoxious for clients who are not using a calendar-aware e-mail application. Contrast with Zimbra's Web client invite - a multipart/alternative message containing a text/plain part, a text/html part (which is formatted somewhat like Thunderbird's display of ICS invites), and a text/calendar part. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Create an event inviting a user that isn't calendar-equipped 2. View invite on recipient's e-mail. 3. Actual Results: Results vary by client. Some display raw ICS data stream. Expected Results: With alternative display methods, a more suitable display would have been chosen by the e-mail client.
I think this was done for compatibility reasons with i.e some versions of outlook. Some Calendar Clients do not show invitations if the email doesn't only consist of a text/calendar part. I think we should reinvestigate compatibility though.
